Call Martin over the phone!

Aug 21, 2024

Today, we're excited to share with you our August 2024 release! You can now reach Martin over the phone, through our iOS shortcuts, or the Martin widget on iPhone.

You can also have Martin make phone calls on your behalf. He can pass along a message to a colleague, or call a store about their hours.

Finally, Martin is now integrated with Gmail — ask Martin to check your inbox, search for old emails, and (coming soon) draft responses!

1. Martin can now make phone calls!

A. Call your Martin at the same phone number that you typically text him at (unique to each user). When you're on the go or don't have WiFi, just call Martin and access all of his tools — email, calendar, search, etc.

B. Tell Martin to call your contacts on your behalf, to schedule a meeting, relay a message, or ask a question. Call transcripts will be visible in Martin's Messages in the app.

2. Shortcuts and Widgets

Martin now has 2 iOS shortcuts and a native widget! Add these to your iPhone home screen or lock screen to start a voice or text conversation with Martin in 1 click.

You can even set up a shortcut to start voice or SMS sessions with Martin by tapping the back of your phone twice (Accessibility > Touch > Back Tap)!

3. Inbox Integration V1

We are also releasing an early version of Martin's inbox integration! You can now ask Martin to check your recent emails or search for old emails by sender or subject.

Soon, we'll be adding support for drafting replies, managing labels, and sending emails! The inbox integration is limited to Gmail for now.

Other Notable Features and Fixes

Besides these three major features, we've also fixed some notable issues in this release:

- You can now start meetings with Martin mid-session. Before, you had to end your current session. Now, just tap "Start Meeting" and your session will refresh.

- We've reduced the speed of launching the app and starting a voice conversation considerably. Now, it should only take 1-2 seconds max to launch Martin.

- When Martin texts or calls someone on your behalf, Martin will only reveal your calendar availability. He will not reveal any titles or descriptions of events.

- You can now specify if you want an event to be "private" when adding or editing a Google calendar event with Martin.

- Unique Martin numbers can now be UK numbers. If your phone number has a +44 international code, your unique Martin's number will also start with +44.

- Martin can now reliably add calendar events to days in the past.

Thank you for reading our August product update! We may send these more frequently in the coming months. For now, please don't hesitate to email us at founders@trymartin.com with any feedback or questions. We always love hearing from you :).
